Our Source to Sea geography river study started in the rainy Pentlands with Balerno and Currie HS AdH pupils. By the time we got to Slateford it was sunny and by Stockbridge it was almost summer again.

A second day on the trott for our hardcore volunteers, this time between Juniper Green and Kinleith, sweeping off leaves and cutting back to make the path wide and safe. Plenty of rubbish to be foraged from the undergrowth too. Time to put you feet up folks!

Two volunteer teams out this morning. The 1st was at Longstone scything vegetation off the mounds ready for tree planting next week. By removing the vegetation there will be less competition and a better chance of the trees making it to maturity.

Thanks to the Friends of Warriston cemetery for a very informative tour as part of Doors Open Door Days New factoids for the next time we are working in that area. Amazing to think there have been around 69,000 burials there.

An enjoyable morning with a small team of staff from the Edinburgh office of Blackrock. They helped to improve the entrance to St Mark Park and then moved onto the walkway rebuilding the hazel fence and raking off debris from Wednesdays heavy rain.

Fantastic team effort today in Currie! We managed to reclaim a huge amount of the walkway from encroaching vegetation, from Haston Wall to Poets Glen, including steps and side paths. Started brushing out the moss collecting on the edges & removed graffiti from all signage. Amazing job folks, thanks!

Johnny was out this morning with the scything team. Supporting Scything Scotland’s Mow to Meet scheme at the Seilich meadow near Pathhead. Fair to say the tea break received a 10/10 with three different flavours of homemade cake on offer for their hard work.

Great session in Colinton Dell today as we spread out to combe the river and paths for rubbish and balsam. We removed loads but not all of the rubbish from an old rough sleeper site. We hit two awkward balsam hotspots, trimmed and swept the walkway, removed graffiti, and ate biscuits. Fun times!🍪🚮🌱

At the Kinleith estate for the second week in a row, this time working downstream to keep the walkway wide and clear. The wading team went upstream sweeping for Himalayan Balsam and rubbish. Not too much rubbish found but plenty of balsam! Thanks again folks!

Thanks to the intrepid souls who came to help clean up the Murrayburn today, it's a tough shift up there but we managed to remove a huge, heavy pile of rubbish, including bags & bags of wet wipes. What a phenomenal effort, thanks again legends!

Balgreen to Murrayfield today, wading for balsam and rubbish. We gave some attention to the Balgreen Community Garden too, weeding, planting, rebuilding the willow fences, and raking off the recently scythed meadows. We also cut back behind the primary school and litter picked.🤘
