absolutely fucking incredible news for public health in canada that a safer supply organization successfully fought the constitutionality of drug possession trafficking laws for not providing any legal way to operate. selfless life-saving work that is actually being identified and respected as such.

But in her judgment on their constitutional challenge on Tuesday, Murray concluded that a non-medicalized safer supply program is urgently needed to save lives.

And with no legal source of drugs available for such a program, and no legal "safety valves" in the CDSA that would support setting one up, she found such a program "is legally and practically incapable of being exempted."

She said part of the CDSA "unjustifiably infringes" on two parts of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and deprives DULF members the "right to life and security of the person."

She gave Parliament six months to find a way to allow for a "pathway to non-medicalized safer supply."

Cpl. Fries first joined the department full-time in July of 2011. He was later selected to serve on the SWAT team in September 2021, and was then promoted to Corporal in the Patrol Division two months later.

In the petition, Hersherberger listed four charges to be sent to the merit board against Cpl. Fries.

While at an on-duty work lunch at Pizza Hut on Aug. 13, 2026, with several other officers and one employee present, Cpl. Fries allegedly said, “I haven’t shot anyone with my new Glock, yet.”

In December of 2024, the department said Cpl. Fries shot and killed an armed man while responding to a mental health crisis in Huntertown. The Allen County Prosecutor’s Office later found that he was justified in the shooting.

According to the petition, one corporal said the comment made him so uncomfortable that he got up and left the table. Another officer said the statement concerned him so much that he submitted a complaint to internal affairs.

During the investigation into the comment, the petition says Cpl. Fries admitted to saying it.

He said it was just “shop talk” and was just a joke, the document says. He then agreed that the conversation was not appropriate to have in public or in general.

The petition says that following a SWAT training operation in May 2026, Cpl. Fries was talking with SWAT members about moving patrol shifts.

Cpl. Fries allegedly told several other team members, “Come to second shift if you want to get into a shooting and you’ll get some time off.”

Documents say one SWAT member responded, “Who the f*** wants to shoot somebody?” Cpl. Fries then said, “Who doesn’t. Like the new guys,” and pointed to other SWAT members, the petition says.

The SWAT member who responded to Fries then reported the comment, saying it upset him especially because it was said in front of new officers and that an officer-involved shooting was not something to joke about.

Although additional details of the system were not revealed at trial, subsequent reporting by 404 Media revealed that Schott most likely was identified by a federal predictive policing unit working out of a so-called fusion center in Laredo that used artificial intelligence to identify him as a likely criminal.

“Homeland Security, DEA, everybody’s there,” Dep. Joel Babb, who pulled Schott over, said in a pre-trial deposition. “And they have a lot bigger toys than a license plate reader.”

fter receiving the WhatsApp message, Babb waited for Schott’s truck to appear, eventually pulling him over for crossing the yellow shoulder line. Schott’s dashboard camera showed him staying inside his lane and the deputy later admitted it was just a pretext to look inside the vehicle.

“The beautiful thing about the Texas traffic code is there’s thousands of things you can stop a vehicle for,” he later testified.

After detaining Schott for more than an hour, and doing more than $7,000-worth of damage to his truck during their search, Bexar deputies’ interrogation and search turned up nothing. Yet Molina wrote on his report that they had seen specks of marijuana leaves. If so, nothing was ever collected or tested or mentioned on any body camera footage, Molina later conceded.

The interdiction team was so unsuccessful that Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar had joked about it. While the deputies made hundreds of stops, “I would rib them about not being very effective at drug interdiction, not finding drugs very often,” he said in a deposition.

A key component of the Cambridge Analytica outrage was your friends subjecting you to data theft without your consent or knowledge. Facebook is running the same playbook on your text messages. Even if you’re not on Meta properties, they’re ingesting your interactions.

Aten installed Muse on both his iPhone and a Mac mini that he uses to test out various Al agents and tech. It took Meta a single day to begin "helpfully" pitching article ideas based on texts he'd sent to a podcast co-host.
When he asked Muse how it got the information, it said that it read banners from incoming texts. But that's not true, either.
After doing a little digging, Aten says Muse synced 187,000 lines from his Messages database, despite Full Disk Access being Off.

Unless Aten is the most popular person on the face of the planet, I sincerely doubt he'd gotten 187,000 lines of text in roughly 24 hours. What happened is that, without permission, Muse went into the app and downloaded the information.
He had not given Muse permission to access Messages, and full disk access was not enabled. It just went ahead and uploaded those texts anyway.
Muse can take "unexpected actions" indeed.
