the thing about Ensign Kellogg on TNG being played by a stealth trans woman really is like we as a community always say…we've ALWAYS BEEN HERE. Just because people didn't realize it doesn't mean we weren't here.

DISABILITY, LIKE ENTROPY AND THE HEAT DEATH OF THE UNIVERSE, COMES FOR US ALL. Like, there's no way to avoid disability because our bodies are not immune to the rigors of time. We AGE. Our vision gets worse, our joints less able, our cognitive functions fail.

if an article about this conflict HAD to be written, you nailed THE major underlying structural problem at the heart that should’ve been the main subject: “lack of public health tearing apart community space that values accessibility to all” would be a much more apt headline.

Heat. Kills. AC is not some kind of fancy luxury for rich people, it is a lifesaving health intervention. Heat is an especially big problem in low-quality housing (like...what poor people can afford) and for people who work outside and need to cool down at night to avoid things like kidney injury.

'Her body temperature was 106': How heat is killing Americans in their homes
Heat kills thousands of people across the U.S. every year. The risk is especially high for the millions of Americans who live in manufactured housing like mobile homes and trailers.

Underappreciated: US farmland *already substantially produces energy, not food*, and does so very inefficiently. Corn ethanol (~40% of all US corn) requires about 100 times more land per vehicle-mile driven than solar photovoltaics -> electric vehicles. Shifting corn to solar *would free up land*.

Can we push back on the idea that LLM's are an accessibility tool? In any cases where they are more accessible than something else, that's got nothing to do with the LLM part of it - eg. text to speech - that tech predated LLMs. Not knowing how to google stuff isn't a disability.
