This story is wild, and i've seen a few different versions of the reasons the fight between the pilots happened. AvGeeks - question, though ... Is it possible for a passenger flight to dive, pass through Mach 1, not sustain structural damage, and then recover? Are they even built to survive that?

Another really friggen cool JWST study! (pre-print) JWST stared at two Globular Clusters (Terzan 5 and Liller 1) and spotted / measured over 1000 variable stars. That tiny square has all these stars in it! And their light curves are extremely cute too! arxiv.org/abs/2609.35959 🔭

Spent some time over the weekend doing some non-PhD writing (for @spaceaustralia.com) and I once again realised that writing (anything) ourselves (instead of having the machines do it) allows our brains to branch into tangents of ideas that provide foundational arguments or compelling story telling.

Just did a couple more hours on this. And still more to do! Gardening in Australia is basically accepting that you will have insects crawling on you, including spiders, and if they bite you, you just hope it’s not the nasty ones. Pretty sure I got bitten by a garden spider. I’m ok with this 🤷🏽

Our house is just a few degrees off N-S alignment and so, this time of year, the Sun rises nearly exactly to our right and sets nearly exactly to our left. Because of the skylights, glass panels and windows, this means that this time of year, we get lots of spectra projected across interior walls!
