This is not about bike lanes. My vote goes to candidates who understand why we need to invest in public services to make them accessible, safe & attractive for all to use. Those who prioritise tax cuts seek to leave us with shonky, unwelcoming, useless public services that end up helping no-one.
A small child (the author’s child) riding independently & confidently in a “protected” two-way bicycle lane.

The previous Labour Govt dropped a bunch of speed limits. The NACT Govt reversed the changes, did two rounds of consultation, and ended up reinstating the original Labour govt changes. Great use of resources. Glad we're not wasting time or money on idealogical farts. #nzpol

Boom! 🚇 The City Rail Link is already helping make Auckland city centre into a 7-day city: Saturday 9pm ridership is now equivalent to pre CRL midday ridership 💥. Next month night frequencies are improving too, and getting a little later on Friday and Saturday nights, a good start. More please!

So these were taken on my walk to work, from an inner suburb to the city fringe (Karori to Kelburn, for locals). I grew up in the area, and I absolutely would never have seen these birds in people's front yards 30 years ago. Wellington & its people made a choice to bring them back & we succeeded.
