While RNZ's report captures pushback to single sentiment, Peters said much more in interview with Family First, serving to, inter alia, normalise their views, provide pathways to their content/account, & bridge fringe extremism. These are lasting democratic harms he's fostering, & festering. #nzpol

Family First NZ was rightly called a far-right organisation by @globalextremism.bsky.social It is anti-vaxx, anti-Te Tiriti, anti-trans, anti-LGBTIQA+, & a climate change denying Christian nationalist platform. It is with this known entity that Winston Peters did a *one-hour* interview with. #nzpol

That there are parties & industry insiders not only ignoring this but actively maligning this here in New Zealand tells you how much we need to kill the dominant do nothing narrative. Not just kill it, stab it with a wooden stake, seal it in a lead sarcophagus & fire it into the heart of the sun.

All it takes is a search on any given internet search engine... "Xero controversies" "Rocket Lab controversies" and inappropriate behaviour with former staffers, and launching spy satellites to aid with America's military-industrial complex... are not "moral rules" to be worried about. #nzpol

'I'd like to see more billionaires': Seymour wades into debate row

ACT leader David Seymour says he wants to see more billionaires in New Zealand, after the issue was raised in last night's leaders debate.

"It's morally acceptable to be a billionaire if you have not broken any rules and you have voluntarily exchanged value for value with the other people that you're doing business with," Seymour told media.

He pointed to companies like Xero and Rocket Lab.

"If people value it so much they want to pay that person a billion dollars over time, then what moral rule has been broken?" he said.

Seymour said creating businesses was the only way to generate the wealth needed to fund the promises other parties were making to voters.

He criticised the Greens' policy to tax the "super rich", saying it sent the message that people's problems were caused by someone else's success."

Honestly, the full quote is much more qualified but makes very little sense???
He was asked who he would vote for if he couldn't vote for the Opportunity Party. “Maybe the National Party,” Eb said.

Asked why, Eb responded that he used to vote for them.

"I used to vote for them a lot of the time when I was a younger person, and then I changed a little bit and started voting for other parties.

"I voted for the Green Party before; I almost voted for the Te Pāti Māori party before. So I'd probably just go back to what I used to do, which is not a good reason to do anything,” Eb said.

I really do hate the Fantasy Spreadsheet Manager game that elections have become. They were useful as statements of priorities, and yeah, in a broad sense you have to state some minuses to balance the pluses. But they are not a test of "economic management", and treating them as such is a farce.
