Reporting of Hipkins on RNZ talking about enrollment, saying they would reverse changes to enrollment cut-off and calling it designed to take away votes for the left

One thing I've found looking at policy is, Labour and Green policy can work really well together. Meanwhile you have a lot of friction between the Coalition parties policy, maybe Opps will realise who can actually be adults come November. #nzpol

Honestly, until diseal goes back to at least close to what it was before the fuckwit in the White House and his drunk fascist lackey decided they needed to feel manly, I think not putting the tax on fuel up is fine. #nzpol

I hope that there is a push on all parties in opposition now to actually devolve power to councils properly, after the strong arm wank Luxon and his cronies have pushed on everyone #nzpol

A frustrating vibe I've seen here is people assuming voters on the left annoyed with Labour will go to Greens by default. You need to win people over on the Greens vision, not just Labour bad, and a lot of the energy here carries less "We need to bring them in" and more "How could they not?" #nzpol

Content warning - long grumpy post about arts funding ahead. South Island based arts organisations were reported as getting just 10% of Creative New Zealand funding. That's bad enough. What I discovered next was astonishing.

The Greens & Opportunity should be calling their policies TAX RELIEF - because for over 70% of the population what you take home after tax is lower. Current language is allowing the right to wrongly depict what happens to the wealthiest 10-20% as the general effect. Smart labelling matters #nzpol

I do agree with this, but I will acknowledge the marijuana referendum was the result of a government from 2017-2020 where one Party wanted legalisation (G), one didn't have a particular side (L) and one that did not want it (NZF). We can have a government without the part that didn't want it.

What Stanford is doing with the social media ban stuff is exactly what supposed bipartisan lawmaking should not be. The whole idea of it is meant to be that both sides acknowledge the need for change and agree to put something in place, not "Do it because our friends don't like us." #nzpol

One thing I do enjoy about being connected with both Greens and Labour people is, I get to see where there is the alignment and similar vibes. This weekend, it was entirely laughing at Paul Henry, like his named was mentioned by both with such deserved disrespect. Quite heartwarming. #nzpol

I do not expect Labour to share the exact same policy as the Greens, if they did, there would be no reason for both parties to exist. And with the current government, expressing their leadership of a government makes sense. It can be done with more respect, disagreement in method, not cause #nzpol

So Greens have policy that both increases tax revenue and cuts taxes for almost everyone, Labour has policy that makes healthcare costs way lower and limits the cost of PT. National meanwhile only have a policy that actively forces your pay out of your pocket for Kiwisaver. It says enough #nzpol
