Something that drives me fully bananas is that every piece of software that has an object hierarchy puts the hierarchy on the left, and the attributes on the right! So most of the time after clicking on an object, you have to drag your cursor across your *whole screen* to edit it. Bananas!

i've had so many of these working on imsims. my first was the guards in my stealth game who could hear each other's footsteps and if they didn't already know roughly where the other guy was they would investigate each other and be surprised to see each other. in first person this looks like nothing

Playing FF7R, my first proper FF experience, and I have a lot of thoughts but the main thing I'm struck by is how tonally weird it is. The protagonists are freedom fighters, and the story doesn't shy away from the moral compromises that can entail, but the tone is super upbeat and wholesome???

it's hard to really say, as I was always fascinated by any video game I could get my hands on, but I remember playing Smash Bros Meele, Halo, and Dragon Ball round a friend's house, and being super into Lego Star Wars and Sonic Adventure at home, in terms of early memories that really stick out.

I feel that certain forms of art are relatively insultated from the threat of AI. It will create a bifurcated market, where people who engage with art primarily as a distraction will bow to the machine, whereas people that use art for its emotional value will pay a premium for human made stuff.

I'm conflicted about the OoT remake; it mostly looks great, but it also looks like everything else. For the longest time, Nintendo has been the only AAA studio throwing a budget at non-photoreal art styles. With this and Star Fox it feels like that's ended, which is a huge bummer.
