i do think that one of the roots of all conversational strife online is the idea that socratic-methoding someone without their consent is anything but rude. If that doesn't read as hostile to u, imo it's a good indicator that uve possibly lost the ability to communicate normally.

It's somewhat telling when the folks decrying indoor mask policies go so far as to claim anyone masking in this day and age is mentally ill. For fuck's sake, people, I'm immunocompromised and my doctor has recommended I mask since 2018. I ask others to mask *in my home* but not in public.
