Cregger's Resident Evil is a good example of "Fast Body Horror." In the 80s, a lot of Body Horror was "slow" because in order to execute a special effect, there was one gimmick per shot, so transformation sequences had many cuts and emphasized the mechanics of the gimmick.

Resident Evil movie very good. My nitpicking gripe with it is that there are almost zero practical effects in it. I totally get why current film production militates against that sort of thing. But when you're making a bio-goop monster, I believe it's always more visceral if the goop is real.

Hit my late 30s & now if I think about playing video games it triggers a disgust response. Don't think this is a universal feeling nor do I think it is a medium without merit.
