After finishing The Necromancer's Tale, I really understand the reviews I glanced at that called it "nearly great". Some very interesting story ideas and RPG puzzling, bogged down by a lot of jank and a combat system I put up with until it became so tedious that I opted to turn it off.

I'm still considering putting my thoughts to paper, but my gut reaction to Hades 2 is: I like the gameplay more in the sequel, but I prefer the story of the original better. I'd still recommend anyone play either or both, but I now get some of the reviews that said they were just as conflicted.

Finally got around to playing the King Kong PS2 game because of Noodle's video, and pretty much ditto to everything he said. Fascinating how much game design DNA you can trace back to this movie tie in game from 2005.

Overall the NPCs in Metroid Prime 4 grew on me. Mainly when I had the realization that they weren't going to accompany me the entire game and would just be temporary drop ins. I'm still digesting my thoughts on the whole game, but overall I enjoyed my time with it.

Okay Mackenzie just forced my map open to show me exactly where I need to go. I'm getting progressively more annoyed. Again, not game ruining, but it's baffling to me that there's a tutorial NPC who calls in every now and then.

Playing a bit of Metroid Prime 4 and I suprisingly don't instantly hate Mackenzie. My gut feeling is that I'd still prefer he wasn't there, but he's not unbearable. I may change my tune later, but for now I'm putting him in the "this is different, but doesn't ruin the game" category

So I finally played a Gear of War game and I am thoughly whelmed. I always felt like I must have been missing out on the franchise as I didn't have a 360 at the time, but uh, I guess I was wrong. Don't particularly feel pressure to seek out copies of 2 or 3.
