Finally started playing God of War Ragnarok and it's mad how much worse the choice of voice actors is. Not that they're bad performances, but they sound so wrong, compared to how spot on the previous game got it. So many characters just sound like generic Americans...

The Hormuz stoppage numbers are just enormous and are legitimately hard for people to fully appreciate. For perspective, for the past month the oil market has been operating without roughly one and a half Saudi Arabias.

Bond between dogs and humans dates back more than 15,000 years, study finds
Research suggests hunter-gatherers were feeding dogs and giving them ritual burials as early as the last ice age They are humankind’s best friend, and now ancient DNA analysis has revealed that the enduring bond between dogs and humans dates back more than 15,000 years. The groundbreaking research, published in the journal Nature, pushes back the oldest genetic evidence for domestic dogs by 5,000 years, revealing that hunter-gatherers were feeding the animals and giving them ritual burials long before the emergence of agriculture. If Iran can build enough momentum of states willing to deal individually, then that will put the US and Gulf States in the position of having to fight to keep it closed. There are no politics for that. The ticking of that clock is accelerating against the coalition of the foolhardy.

Consider Amira Zairi, a self-professed “AI educator” and “ambassador” for Adobe, LeonardoAI, and TripoAI, who posted a scathing rant this week on X-formerly-Twitter to her 49,000 followers. Her complaint? Other people were “plagiarizing” her unique AI prompts.

“‘Make your own prompts’ isn’t advice. It’s basic integrity,” Zairi wrote, using syntax that reads suspiciously like text generated by ChatGPT. “I’m honestly fed up. Changing a few words, renaming the prompt, or slightly rephrasing it doesn’t make it yours, the idea is still the same, the vibe is the same, and the results are obviously similar.”

“And no, this isn’t about one or two people, and it didn’t happen once!!!!” Zairi continued. “Creating your own prompts is actually easier than copying someone else’s work! Try it.”

Should we perhaps ask how decades of British strategic genius and ingenious politics have now resulted in us being attacked by both fascist Russia and fascist America, falling over ourselves to prove to the latter that we’re also enthusiastically fascist? This seems non-optimal, to me.

- There is a huge disconnect between the conversation in Westminster and the European security crisis dominating the attention of its leaders.
— NATO's chief this week warned of another world war. A UK defence minister said the "shadow of war is knocking on Europe's door". Keir Starmer said the continent faces a "critical" moment.
— But many Labour MPs aren't discussing the breakdown of the transatlantic alliance or the prospect of a new global conflict. Instead they're talking about who should replace Starmer and when.
- There is frustration (and disbelief) in the senior ranks of government at those in Labour who are talking about changing leader at such a dangerous international moment.
— A senior civil servant, who served in the chaotic Tory period of five prime ministers in 14 years, says the recent tendency in British politics to shuffle through leaders is making it far harder for the state to function properly. They said Ukrainian officials had often despaired at the repeated changes in Britain since Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022.
