Think it's little understood outside Egypt just how authoritarian the government is, and how much worse it's getting. Have heard stories of journalists afraid to put their names to articles about facts of life like inflation, for fear of being arrested for undermining the regime.

It's partly just a product of early 21st century graphics, but there's a gritty, grainy, grimy texture to Deus Ex's visuals that I always loved. Really helped sell the dystopian vision of its world.

Have to say, lots of questions I'd like answered about Soroka's status in the team. Reliably plays well when selected but seems to go long stretches where he falls out of favour. Not included on the injured list but one of only a small number of players to not travel to SA. What's going on there?

Yes. When state pension started there were 9 working age people to every retiree, by 1950s it was 5 now it is 2.5 pensioners lived 3-5 yrs. now it’s 15 We have to address the 🐘 in the room. We need working age, taxpayers to make our society function. Even with every NEET working we need migration

Integrating into the Single Market and a Customs Union but not full membership for the UK should be the realistic target set by Brussels. If UK state elites as well as voters can't cope with either the trade-offs of full membership or lack of input on Single Market rules without it, well tough.

Purely anecdotal but really is striking how many people I know who have said they've cancelled or put off trips to the US because of concerns about the current administration. It's not even just "I won't go because I don't like his politics", it's "I'd be nervous being there."

I'd have rathered the Irish team not play yesterday, but I do worry that, perhaps out of a feeling of helplessness to do more ourselves, as a society we are putting too much onus on players/artists to make these gestures (which may carry a cost), and hitting them with too much venom if they don't
