Sidebar: romance novels please stop thinking bookshops are cosy and hushed and adorable, yes there are books, but often they’re full of people who don’t understand why we don’t sell Pokemon cards and are just there to photograph the books they’ll be buying on Amazon later. None of them are snoggable

Hello Bone Colleagues,
I have invented a new type of ankle and I'm very excited to show it to you. Early raccoon trials suggest a 60% increase in scurrying speed and dramatic increases in fine motor banditry. I know we are not supposed to create super raccoons, but I think you'll change your mind and professional ethics when you see how cute they are. I believe we are on the cusp of a new era in advanced human scurrying because if medical science has taught me anything, it's that improvements in raccoons correspond 1:1 to improvements in humans.

No, there was no bell tower on Notre Dame during the French Revolution... Assassin's Creed Unity. The spire visible in the game is the one designed by Viollet-le-Duc, completed in 1859. And this game was never used to rebuild the cathedral 😼

Just went looking for something else on FB, and found this. Christ.
Poetry posted to Facebook. Draw your own conclusions:

Back in the days of tanners and bobs,
When Mothers had patience and Fathers had jobs.
When football team families wore hand me down shoes,
And T.V gave only two channels to choose.
Back in the days of three penny bits,
when schools employed nurses to search for your nits.
When snowballs were harmless; ice slides were permitted
and all of your jumpers were warm and hand knitted.
Back in the days of hot ginger beers,
when children remained so for more than six years.
When children respected what older folks said,
and pot was a thing you kept under your bed.
Back in the days of Listen with Mother,
when neighbours were friendly and talked to each other.
When cars were so rare you could play in the street.
When Doctors made house calls and Police walked the beat.
Back in the days of Milligan's Goons,
when butter was butter and songs all had tunes.
It was dumplings for dinner and trifle for tea,
and your annual break was a day by the sea.
Back in the days of Dixon's Dock Green,
Crackerjack pens and Lyons ice cream.
When children could freely wear National Health glasses,
and teachers all stood at the FRONT of their classes.
Back in the days of rocking and reeling,
when mobiles were things that you hung from the ceiling.
When woodwork and pottery got taught in schools,
and everyone dreamed of a win on the pools.
Back in the days when I was a lad,
I can't help but smile for the fun that I had.
Hopscotch and roller skates; snowballs to lob.
Back in the days of tanners and bobs.

I've been saying this for years. Even if it made no difference to the result, even if they vote in a way that I don't like, you shouldn't be handing every government, good or bad, a simple way to disenfranchise a huge portion of the population, just by locking them up.

Thinking about system design and culpability. When a system fails catastrophically, how do you apportion blame between: - the architects of the system itself. - high-powered actors within the system. - low-powered actors within the system. This is about motornormativity, but also other things.

Sigh; egg yolk is an emulsifier, "flavours" are ultra-processed now. www.theguardian.com/food/2026/oc...
A nutritionist and public health researcher at Deakin Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition, Dr Priscila Machado, describes UPFs as “branded, commercial formulations made from cheap ingredients extracted or derived from whole foods, combined with additives, and mostly containing little to no whole food”. She says looking at ingredient lists is a practical way to spot them: “If there are ingredients you don’t recognise or use at home, like protein isolates, emulsifiers, colour, flavours, and other additives, it’s probably ultra-processed.”

I'd love to know the back story of this matching pair of absolutely bonkers pair of houses near me. Huge and rambling and ornate, but set in ramshackle sea of modest semis and terraced. Student or institutional housing now but presumably fairly well-to-do owners with servants BITD.
A mirror-matched pair of 3 story corner houses in red brick with white quoins and various half-timbered bits and pieces of random ornament. As if the Munsters lived on the shabby side of Oxford. The right hand house, seen closer to.

When it comes to leftover Bolognese, there are two kinds of people. There's "Oh, I'll just have spaghetti again tomorrow" and there's "I'll knead some crumbled fried onions into bread dough, layer and fold it with grated butter, and make some little pasty things".
Bread dough with fried onions in.That dough with a blob of Bolognese sauce and some grated parmesan.Folding them up.After baking.
