For those in England & Wales who don’t get them on the NHS: private flu & covid jabs are available from today. I’ve just had both at my local pharmacy. £115 for the pair. Yes, that’s expensive, but if you’re a freelancer & don’t get sick pay it’s probably a lot cheaper than taking time off.

When I saw the GP about the plantar fasciitis last Monday she said she thought there was a possibilty I've also got a stress fracture in one of my metatarsals, so she wanted me to get an x-ray to rule that out. She said "I'll send you a link to book the x-ray". A week went by & there was no link.

There's a curious crossover here with yesterday's AI music discourse. Unsurprisingly, I guess, the same awful people being involved. And the best way I can describe it is a kind of total deadness where feelings are concerned. For art and music, that's bad. For raising kids? Fucking monstrous.

There are NOT machine-made clothes. If there were, your clothes would be made in the country you live in (where the customers are), or in China (where machines are cheap). They’re made in Bangladesh or India or Indonesia because that’s where the LABOUR is cheap. Your clothes are made by people.
Joyce Carol Oates says: “This is why Al-generated romance novels make perfect sense. Formulaic fiction doesn't need to be written by hand, so to speak; what difference does it make if a machine "writes" it? There are machine-made clothes & there are custom-made clothes. They appeal to
different consumers.“

It feels genuinely ridiculous having to say this, but the point of art is to connect with another human. Someone thought of that painting or melodic line or scene or paragraph that is suddenly making you weep, and that means that they saw you and understood you without even meeting you.

HOW can you not have ANY more info than this, DPD? How? You must have a route plan, it's not all just ~vibes~ is it, you must be able to say "you are delivery number n of x". I don't need to know what the driver's name is, I need to know if I can nip to the shops or go out to pick my daughter up.

One of the things that is going to change is that we’re never ever again going to be able to be dominated by public officials who tell us, ‘Trust the experts,’” Mr. Kennedy said during the Tuesday session.

“If somebody tells you, ‘Masks work, trust the experts,’ A.I. may tell you otherwise,” he added. “If somebody tells you, ‘Social distancing works, trust the experts,’ A.I. may correct that. And if somebody tells you that a vaccine will prevent transmission and infection, or you need to take it to protect your grandmother, A.I. may say it actually doesn’t do that.”
