You will be able to set your watch by the frequency with which Musk sets his minions on people during this case, using their usual tactics of death threats and doxxing. And media will cover none of it.

But I cannot stress enough: we have spent decades de-prioritizing and defunding the humanities broadly in secondary and post-secondary education and then we're all surprised-Pikachu-face when we are suffering from systematic leadership failures in exactly those skills and knowledge domains.

It’s all just a lie. I get so annoyed when I hear democrats say “well parents have real concerns…” no they don’t. Real concerns are addressed by knowledge and data. Prejudice is not. If knowledge doesn’t change their position, they’re just bigots.

you may think i am joking but i am not. they’re talking about AI the way protestant zealots talked about the end times. in both cases we are hearing people talk about themselves — their desires, their lust for destruction, their yearning to trample their rivals underfoot.

I also like that describing it as a library by definition conveys a degree of curation. books from different eras and different places written by different guys and somebody somewhere made strategic decisions about what went on the shelves and what didn't and those people had agendas of their own

not for nothing but of all the Confirmation classes I taught in the early aughts, one of the biggest hits was a session on Revelations it was basically "no we don't believe in the Rapture" / "the Left Behind books are trash" / "if a Catholic starts talking End Times shit to you, run"

There are academics who falsified entire Datasets for years, their work leading to FEDERAL POLICIES that have gotten less coverage. Lucy Calkins and Columbia University's Teacher's College made it so a whole generation of kids barely learned to read and they didn't get this much attention.
