Omg all those angry emails for YEARS made a difference? (I don't actually believe they did, I expect it was polling or something)

By the time I finished high school, I knew 13. Half were athletes in a single bus crash, all others involved impaired driving. Add one fairly recent death of a colleague and 3 pals who survived incidents with traumatic injuries (one driver, one pedestrian, one cyclist).

@juliareedwa.bsky.social can we please look into getting this type of law passed for WA? I was unaware that most universities can hide this critical information.

This, for people who don't follow US soccer, is the coach of the Seattle Sounders donating to the GoFundMe of the fields director at Starfire Sports (where the Sounders used to train), who was just abducted by ICE.

Accidentally typed a query into Google again. Not surprised that the terrible AI is incorrect, but am surprised that it managed to be incorrect twice for Nilu Jenks.
A screenshot of Google's idiotic AI results regarding a special election for Seattle District 5. Candidate Nilu Jenks is misidentified as both Neil Jensen and Nilo Jens. The other candidate's name is Julie Kang, which is correct. I suspect what they have each candidate as "focusing on" is also incorrect because it makes little sense.

My household would buy at least three of these for the ID and Columbia City stops, and I think we'd all chip for a commemorative Mount Baker shirt for that one driver from earlier this summer.

My spouse will get on the Bloodworks NW Tree of Life (100 gallons) in 3 more donations, but for now, he just proudly showed me his newest badge of honor.
A page from the Bloodworks NW site showing donor achievement badges. The top right badge is Jimothy, the world's most famous and beautiful raccoon.

My favorite gay wizard friend has introduced me to the combo of cashews + candy corn--those ridiculous fondant triangles benefit from the salt and the texture combo is ideal. I hope you all have at least one gay wizard friend texting their frivolous wisdom to you.

My cousin is a high school band teacher on the Eastside and today the kids were scheduled for a big thing at the Husky stadium. So they took light rail. I think sousaphones and bass drums got a van ride from school to station? Everyone else rode all kitted out. We're a real city now.

There is a sports betting app set up across the street by the Seahawks stadium giving out free hot dogs once you download their app and, I quote, get your bag. Sports betting is illegal in WA unless you're at a tribal casino. I don't understand some things about modern life.

Someone has been playing 9 to 5 on repeat outside this morning and the way it bounces around the buildings it's like the neighborhood is wonderfully haunted by the ghost of solidarity past. Hopefully it's the Embassy Suites strikers, but impossible to pinpoint.

Jennifer Nelson’s entry to this year’s Minnesota State Fair crop art
A localized version of Guernica with a loon at the center and a person holding an ICE OUT sign

“My piece was inspired by Picasso's Guernica, a work that was his response to the Nazi's bombing of the Basque town. I thought there was a fitting parallel between these incidents about the high price paid by ordinary people when aggressive regimes try out new tactics of war, as well as a fitting juxtaposition of the darkness of living such an experience and the light we shone through it in our own resistance and care for one another. The patterns near Renee Good and Alex Pretti’s mouths are actually their last words in Morse code: ‘I’m not mad at you,’ and ‘Are you okay?’”

Seattle Times Dipshit Quits Because His Editors Were Smart Enough To Spike His Stupid Columns | Defector
People sometimes wonder what editors do. It’s a fair question to ask, given how difficult it is to read a column or blog post and be able to discern exactly how much influence an editor did or did not...

I was raised an atheist. That book and "American religious history" are inescapable in standard American curriculum, I promise. If you don't understand what Texas wants is a bad idea, your entire public school 8th grade English class wasn't made to memorize and individually recite the 23rd Psalm.

This intersection of S King and Alaska Way S needs to get the bike route clearly marked. As a ped on the sidewalk side you get cyclists zipping by and then u-turning and zipping by again as they realize they missed the curving bike lane because of the heap of Limes + zero effective signs.
A big stretch of sidewalk blending with a bike lane. Lime bike and scooters are on the right, Port of Seattle cranes are in the back, and some maple trees are on the left. The sky is nice whispy clouds.

My balcony overlooks Seattle's US-Belgium pedestrian zone and so far I've seen a Paul Revere hat + flag cape guy on a Lime bike, a half man-half eagle, and a teen who turned himself into a flag. Three attempts at a chant have failed entirely thus far. It's perfect, by which I mean ridiculous.
