My library gang have started drawing on a newly revealed board in there. They declared it was a board for ‘us autistic kids’ - and christened it ‘The Boardtism’ 😂

When I did work experience, there was a kid in year 1 who apparently read Wikipedia for fun (according to the TA) and he and I had a great convo about tectonic activity. Little older tho, end of year one so he was… six or seven?

I did an event in a local town for a project that aims to bring positivity to the local area. They do things like litter picks and have a monthly low tech night which is essentially a youth club but for adults. Everyone was just so lovely. 😍

Space. I remember taking the boy to the Greenwich Observatory when he was about that age. He just absorbed everything from the dome show. 6 months later he randomly informs me that blue stars are hotter than red stars.

I've heard a group of very small children having a very in-depth discussion on the relative merits of alarming deep-sea fish that probably wouldn't be out of place on a marine biology degree course. Helps that the fish all look like this though.

I hope we’ll see so many cases like this(“it might be ai”) that art directors move away from the fashionable homogenous look of the last 20 years toward commissioning more individual idiosyncratic illustration (it’s already started with the likes of The Fence magazine’s illustration choices)

One of the Big 5 passed on my book... Maybe doesn't sound like good news, but they said they really enjoyed it, and the writing was "very strong", but it was too similar to another project they had in the pipeline. So I'm taking it as encouragement, and hoping for better luck elsewhere.

In my experience: dinosaurs is spot on for top tier pick. Also vehicles (generally trains or tractors/trucks etc rather than cars) space (planets, space station etc), random animals (usually something slightly unexpected like Sharks or Tigers, rather than cats or dogs) Pokemon Masters was 9ish here.

Palaeontology was certainly our top knowledge centre at that age, but we also went through vehicles (diggers early on then cars later), space, animals, the periodic table, dragons and, you will be pleased to know, mythology. I just wish he now had half so much enthusiasm for his actual homework.

Face-food! (Bought for us by someone we usually buy breakfast for - so they're extra special.) And, Avatar's new(ish) album arrived and is very, very catchy.
Two ring doughnuts in a box with a chocolate eclair. They are placed so that the doughnuts look like giant eyes above a gaping eclair-mouth - the chocolate giving an illusion of hollowness. The cover of Avatar's album, don't go in the forest. A man, dressed in black, grins unsettlingly and holds a shiny red balloon. He is standing between two straight tree trunks.
