I made a playlist for the baby, gonna raise that kid right! 😆 (He genuinely seems to enjoy this kind of music, as much as a two-week-old can show enjoyment. His eyes get very big!)
Screenshot of a playlist that includes Ghost Riders by Johnny Cash, Mackie Messer, Barrett's Privateers and Northwest Passage, some Flogging Molly and Mark Knopfler, Rawhide by the Blues Brothers, Rocky Road to Dublin, and a song by DLÙ that has a Gaelic title.

#pregnancy Had a false alarm today, at 38 weeks. Blood pressure way too high and rising in the morning, went to the hospital halfway expecting to be induced on the spot. Instead, blood pressure suddenly perfect on arrival, despite me being way more stressed than I'd been at home. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You know the Pratchett quote that goes “No one is finally dead until the ripples they cause in the world die away, until the clock he wound up winds down" etc? Today my dad's spirit lives on in some truly astonishing aftermarket modifications I can't figure out how to remove from his/now my e-bike.

So a propos of nothing, Janja Garnbret just climbed "Bibliographie," one of the most famous - and hardest - sport climbs in the world. She becomes the first woman to top it, and only one of 7 climbers ever to make the ascent.

Got truly desperate and used the restroom in the town's dodgiest divebar today (run-down building, illegal indoor smoking, highly recommended by an ex's drug dealer). Reader, let me tell you: *sparkling* clean. Delicately decorated by someone with an eye for color theory. 10/10 restroom experience

#death Yesterday my dad died peacefully in his sleep in his care home. He was 84 and struggling badly with the limited mobility he had due to Parkinson's, and he's been telling me he's ready for it to end for two years now. Losing a parent sucks, but I know he wanted to go.

To my friends from LiveJournal

I still think about you Wonder if you finally quit, Do you still speak to your mom?

I remember when you went to Japan How you swore you'd never forgive him.

I can't remember to take my meds but I remember you wanted to live on a houseboat. It's a strange intimacy, all of us unspooling across decades of internet space Like balls of yarn leaving a trail behind us of everywhere and everyone we've ever been

I hope you got your houseboat.

I hope you got everything.

Why is my plum dumpling so angry
Close up of a plum dumpling in a green tupper in a fridge. The dumpling has split open along one side to show its black, plum-filled insides. The split has the shape of two tiny, squinty eyes and a huge, roaring mouth. It's pressed up right against the side of the tupper like it yearns to devour you. An even closer up picture of the angry dumpling, really focusing in on its rage-filled face

This gets progressively funnier with every use of the term "floppy".
One of Britain’s most senior police officers has launched an angry tirade against Extinction Rebellion protesters going “all floppy” when they get arrested.

Sir Stephen House, the deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan police, said the tactic of going limp was a “flipping nuisance” as it required extra officers to drag protesters away.

House told a London assembly police and crime committee hearing: “We have asked them to stop being floppy. And that might seem like a silly thing to say, but when we arrest them and pick them up, they go all floppy, which is why you see four or five officers carrying them away. It’s a complete waste of officers’ time, and a complete pain in the neck.”

Extinction Rebellion: how successful were the latest protests?

House also expressed annoyance at how the tactic made the police look heavy-handed. He said: “The problem with them going floppy and four offices carrying them away [is that it] looks to the general public like police are overreacting here. We’re not making them go floppy. They’re just sort of being a nuisance.”

Today, just now, at the age of mumbledy-mumble years old, having used computers my entire adult life, I had my mind blown by the revelation that the bit (as in, 8 bits are a byte, a million bytes are a megabyte) is a physical structure inside the computer. That's so many tiny little bits, you guys!

Anyway, here's the main question keeping me up right now: does Bruce Wayne have a sex tape? OTOH, having a sex tape leaked is one of the biggest things to make people unfairly dismiss a celebrity as an idiot, which is exactly what Bruce wants for Bruce Wayne. OTOH, he's a deeply private person.
