This is true, and the same goes for athletes who are pursuing the Olympics or professional sports careers. In fact, one of the drugs that was found in then 15 year old figure skater Kamila Valieva's positive doping test was a puberty blocker. There was no outrage from transphobes about it.

This is a long-standing pattern in online communities, and I find it eternally frustrating. 1) Harassment and abuse don't magically become okay if you are on the same side of the argument as the harasser 2) being part of a marginalized and oft-abused community isn't a free pass to abuse others

when I ran the GSA and kids asked what to do when they saw someone being bullied or heard someone being homophobic or transphobic, I said that a lot of the time the harshest critique is just one of their peers saying "Gross, that's not funny." We used to practice saying it.
