We report: there is a bit of wind, and a lot of sunshine, humidity as well as we get to the later part of the afternoon. We are getting familiar with this feeling again - autumn and spring, when we are not sure whether we are hot or cold, or both at the same time.
Digital painting of a partly cloudy, deep blue sky: the clouds have jagged edges, brightly outlined in white. There are clear sun rays coming from the lower part of the frame, splitting after meeting the clouds.

We report: since we came up to the mountains, we are now in the land of the clouds. Although one might refer to this weather as « a downpour », we like to think that we are « mapping the clouds ». We have not been able to take notes in the heavy rain, but we are paying attention.
Digital painting of a rainy landscape: the moor in the foreground, and some faint mountains in the background, caught in the rain. There are trees in the distance and to the side, and tall grass on the moor.

We report at dawn: the clouds are diaphanous, only just coming into view. The sky looks so thin, like the weakest breeze could knock it all over. Some colours are being brought into the world with utmost care - not too many, not all at once, not too loud, so you can sleep in.
Digital painting of a scene at the beginning of sunrise: thin blue clouds in a pale sky, with slight purple and pink accents in the lower third of the frame. There are a few dark roofs and trees in the distance. One window is lit bright red.

We report: it is raining a little, sparse few drops here and there. The sunset is keeping low to the horizon under the weight of the clouds. Walking home, the street lamps haphazardly turn on, unpredictable. The telltale, dry crackle when they turn on makes us look up.
Digital painting of a sunset scene: the sky is cloudy, dark blue grey at the top of the frame, orange and bright yellow in the lower part. There are bright pink streaks in the middle. There is the dim outline of some houses and trees in the back and foreground, many phone lines running across the frame.

We report early, but especially bright, in the morning: we had to take a minute to get used to the sun when we went outside. When we went back in, we had to take another minute. Each cloud felt as bright as the sun, and looking up was already enough for our eyes to get full.

I wrote another fic, it's a big swoony romance! I actually wrote it to amuse myself in the Lakes this year, and what a good choice that turned out to be. Shetland, m/m, dreamy magical realism. archiveofourown.org/works/90534201
AO3 header tags for this story: "to pull wild mountain thyme (what we need is here), by raven, Jimmy/Duncan, not rated, Shetland.

summary: This little house could be the world's heart. This place, Duncan thinks, with awful wryness, is his heart.

The painting "The Moment" by James Warden, with the text "Once I Was Made of Earth" on it by Rivers Solomon. The painting is in the romantic style, quite dramatic and dark in tone if not colour, with a horse rearing with fear in its eyes as a snake launches to bite it, against a back drop of pink and blue mountains.

Digital painting of a sunset scene: dark roofs under a pink sky, with a few crows on the roofs, and one of them flying in the sky. The sky is partly cloudy, purplish where it is getting dark, with translucent pink clouds scattered all over. There is a bright red strip just above the horizon.
