On Earth 2, we can't believe how good the new HBO Animorphs show looks. "They nailed the morphing," people enthuse. The nonbinary actor playing Ax's human morph is cutting it up on the Las Culturistas podcast. The actress playing Rachel has handcuffed herself to a data center

happy independent bookstore day! unless your local bookstore is worker-owned or union there are 0 rail guards for ensuring that it does right by its employees, so they are usually pretending to like you in exchange for less money than they actually need to live.

My favorite Cheekface songs are the ones where, despite the sunny music and goofy lyrics, you can feel the simmering rage at the core of the song youtu.be/n4up0PZnqwM?...

I want everyone who has spent years in therapy wondering what is wrong with them, wondering why they had so many bad relationships, why they felt so much dread, to know that it was in part because you were living in a world run by evil, evil people and you could tell that somewhere deep down

It's very easy to say you're against violence. It's much harder to acknowledge how violence is literally what upholds the systems we live in. Violence and the implicit threat of violence literally mediate all of our lives. Why do we pay rent? Why do we listen to authority figures? etc. etc.

Your periodic reminder that "it's complicated" does not mean "it's morally ambiguous." Lots of morally correct things are complex and lots of morally repugnant things are simple and easy. Situational complexity doesn't mean doing the right thing is any less of a moral imperative.

I 100% would have used ChatGPT for homework when I was in school, because homework sucked ass. However, if I hadn't been forced to bullshit a lot of essays 15 minutes before class I wouldn't have learned that I enjoy writing. The moral is to destroy both ChatGPT and homework.

I really think a key to writing, and probably anything hard is to orient around purpose rather than joy. Joy is present in little sparks, when you crack a plot or write a good line, or when after you're done someone gets what you were doing and appreciates it.
