The thing is, peer (or state) surveillance doesn’t have any kind of the evidential accuracy concerns that actual investigatory research (OSINT, intelligence, journalism) demands; and getting things wrong actually usually works in the favor of a surveillant’s goals throughout recorded history.

I’ve been noting that one of the main use cases that everyday users had already been putting LLMs and agents to use is the compilation of dossiers for peer-on-peer surveillance and automated gang-stalking (swarm-stalking) of other citizens, so of course Meta is copying that as a feature.
