The AI people really just don't understand what art is for. They really think of it as just an economic system, rather than a vessel for human expression. No wonder these people buy the Damien Hirst dots.

If you notice a typo in a piece of writing, and you communicate that information to the writer, you've really gotta say exactly what the typo is and exactly where the typo is. Saying "Typo in this paragraph..." or similar is a kind of psychological torture.

You know this is my third or fourth go around with this kind of technological innovation for consumers and citizens. And a lot of it is the same. Same pattern of exaggerated benefits, underestimated challenges. What’s new this time is the sector isn’t even pretending to care about the consumer.

This is the crux of the problem! We've seen the big-money press releases from the Maple 8 pension funds, but that money won't really do much to drive homegrown Canadian companies. thelogic.co/news/maple-8...

Scene from Seinfeld. Keith Hernandez walks by Newman and Kramer moments before Kramer is spit on. A “second spitter” lurks in the bushes in the background.

Do you ever think about how Alberta held a referendum on whether to permanently adopt daylight saving time, and voters (narrowly) rejected that idea, but then the government just said "fuck it" and went ahead with it anyway? Anyway, I think about that sometimes.
