Nature Reviews Immunology, Published online: 22 June 2026; doi:10.1038/s41577-026-01329-8A preprint by Hu et al. shows, in a mouse model of primary tauopathy, that conventional type 1 dendritic cells outside of the central nervous system prime CD8+ T cells against brain-derived antigens, which exacerbate neurodegeneration.

dlvr.it
Persistent and transient senescent cells contribute to brain-barrier development
Senescent cell states arise across brain-barrier cell types during development but diverge in duration and function. Endothelial cells and macrophages enter a transient, inflammatory state, whereas choroid plexus epithelial cells maintain a persistent, non-inflammatory state supporting long-term barrier function. These cells are required for brain-barrier formation and function.

Very common story from a follower👇 Even if you can avoid ARC’s ludicrously long time-scales & recruit via another country’s much more efficient system, you hit Australia’s immigration system. Barrier after barrier. It’s YEARS between idea & starting the research in Australia. The slooow country.
Black text on grey background. Screenshot of direct message from a researcher in Australia describing how the immigration time-scales for a postdoc coming to Australia are now so long that they undo the much better efficiency of other countries’ grant systems.
