We argue that understanding how NI crosstalk become dysregulated in NDD & how they might be restored offers powerful framework re: disease mechanisms & therapeutic opportunities. Thanks @chanzuckerberg.bsky.social and the pioneering neuroimmunologists at the CZI workshop for shaping our thinking!

First study out! Using a new cooperative paradigm and multi-agent inverse RL, we show that mice spontaneously adopt leader/follower roles, and the prefrontal cortex encodes these role dynamics and an egocentric social value map of the partner’s position. (1/3) www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Thrilled to share: we show that neuronal hyperactivity drives C1q-mediated synapse loss via brain-recruited B cell/IgM, revealing unexpected neuroimmune crosstalk in the adult brain. Congrats to Gerard Crowley who led this w/ resilience & creativity & our whole team! www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

Our paper is finally out! We position intestinal muscularis macrophages as early initiators of α-synuclein pathology and dopaminergic neurodegeneration in Parkinson’s models. They also drive local CD4⁺ T cell expansion, which subsequently migrates from gut to brain www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Our lab's 1st paper, led by @fchrisbennett.bsky.social & @waisenberg.bsky.social. A decade thinking how to directly assess the impact of microglia replacement. Yrs of hard work. This kind of work is needed to expand brain disease care for kids & the vision for safer, more effective cell therapy.
