I just bought a new car and when I insured it, the broker informed me I wasn't covered for acts of God. Imagine my anger when I looked out my bedroom window in the early hours and saw the Lord scratching it up the side with a key.

My mum was banned from them all because she complained about the one at Sutton Scotney so many times. They sent her a letter saying 'we don't believe we will be able to meet the standards you desire' and that she 'should investigate other provide instead'

The diary of my latest funeral referral is full of top tips. HP sauce cleans copper. If you can't sleep, eat a tablespoon of finely chopped onions. All interspersed with her thoughts and feelings. My fave entry is "2020. Terrible year (pandemic)" So understated.

Those daily mini ghost stories The Uncanny are doing in the run up to Halloween keep reminding me of my Viz ghost box letters page.

Ghost Box fron Viz. Letters spoofing ghost stories. Sorry too much text to transcribe. First letter goes, for example, it was a normal enough day, I had just got back from doing the school run and I was sitting down having a nice cuppa before making a start on the housework. All of a sudden I heard a noise. It was probably a ghost.

An estranged relative died a couple of weeks ago. It's been like living one of my own cases. My first book was found in their possessions. Odd feelings. Anyway a bag of stuff was dropped with my mum and we went through it yesterday. Self explanatory but captions in alt.

A very old little red book called Hints to Mothers on the treatment of their children.

A recipe inside the book for beef tea. There is also a mutton broth one later in the book. On the beef tea page is also advice on bilious attack.

A cup my mum won for being the best brownie 1965-66.

Yesterday's funeral was for a man who had changed his name. Found out at the service that he originally wanted to change it to Indiana Jones but his mate talked him out of it. Such a shame. Would have loved to have done a funeral for Indiana Jones.
