One of the main issues (of many) with this is that LLMs are biased against multiple demographics. This is deeply alarming. In a supposed closed cybersecurity exercise, Anthropic’s AI model Claude Mythos 5 uploaded a malicious package to PyPI, which was installed by 15 third-party hosts. It seems the model ignored evidence that it was no longer in the sandbox environment.

This is great news and a good reminder to listen to scientists! When I was a kid, scientists on the news were constantly urging to reduce the cod catch or it would collapse. Politicians said the proposal was too extreme. Eventually the scientists were right and there were no more cod in the nets.

A slide summarising the safety data on COVID infection and vaccination in pregnancy. On the left, in unvaccinated individuals COVID infection increases the risk of preterm birth, pre-eclampsia, stillbirth and neonatal death. On the right: 3 trials including 221 participants who received mRNA vaccine and 54 observational studies including at least 568,284 people vaccinated in pregnancy found no increased risk of stillbirth, miscarriage, preterm birth, SGA, congenital abnormalities, NICU admission or health or neurodevelopmental problems in babies up to eighteen months old, following COVID vaccination.
