This is great news and a good reminder to listen to scientists! When I was a kid, scientists on the news were constantly urging to reduce the cod catch or it would collapse. Politicians said the proposal was too extreme. Eventually the scientists were right and there were no more cod in the nets.

siRNA is exciting because it makes it possible to circumvent the problem of otherwise ‘undruggable’ proteins. And, unlike current gene-editing therapies, it can be given to people off the shelf, without needing to extract cells from the body, edit and replace them.

12. Here's the key insight though: as labor-augmenting technologies LLMs make researchers more productive and therefore they *raise the opportunity cost of researcher time*. As a result researchers will have incentives to invest less time in polishing a current project before moving on to a new one.
