One of my go to responses when accused of bias is “Reality has a bias.” Sometimes things are just true! We don’t need to both sides things like “People who don’t have to worry about housing or their next meal have a higher average quality of life.” That’s just a true thing!

People can see a bad use of the trope from a mile away. One that doesn't engage with the way the same trope has been repeated, parodied, ironised. That doesn't realise you're engaging with an existing conversation. That doesn't care about what is behind or underneath the trope.

Basically, for most of history there weren't really borders as we understand them, so people could just go and live in other places and they might never be seen as being one of the same kind of people as their neighbours, but potentially their kids or grandkids might.
