That's weird, because I saw a BBC documentary about it that was extremely laudatory about how meticulous everyone in the British Museum was about getting it all set up and how it was years in the planning! Could it possibly be one hand of the British establishment washing the other? Unimaginable!

I don't think anyone can really equivocate on the death penalty in America given that it's not even like, "oh, they might get it wrong!" They *constantly* get it wrong. GOP governors are forever overruling successful appeals or racing courts to kill someone before they're exonerated.

I am stressed out when I see Americans post they have complicated feelings about capital punishment. There's nothing complicated about it. Don't do it.

I too have complicated feelings about the death penalty. I think it's heinous and barbaric and both morally and ethically indefensible. My feelings get complicated when someone I like wants to defend it because it's one of the incredibly few things I would truly and earnestly call uncivilised

I remembered another Pac-on-audio bit (I think his accent just makes it stand out more?), which is him going, "Other leg! Other leg!" to, I think, Fletcher earlier this year, when he started working the wrong leg on the mat. It might be when he'd just come back from the foot injury?

Honestly though, the colour version is actually really good. I did it in gold and then turned it black and white, so you perhaps don't get the full effect with the free version. A quid/buck a month gets you access to everything on the Patreon. There's a bunch of old content and PDFs and things.

603) Tubabot. Ideal for both orchestral accompaniment and for punctuating another hilarious disappointment. #SmallRobotsRemastered
A robot in the form of a tuba with banded arms and legs It's body (i.e. the tuba) is shaded to look like reflective metal, its face on the conical bore (big funnel bit) blowing into its mouthpiece, which is on an extended tube from the opposite side of the instrument (because, interestingly and unintentionally, I used an image of a smaller tuba designed to be held at shoulder height for reference, rather than the more conventional style with the mouthpiece closer to the bell), and it has its eyes closed. The robot's arm is connected to one of the many looping pipes, emerging from within the workings to manipulate the valves mounted in the middle. Wide waves emerging from the bell indicate the bassy sound produced by the robot.

Read this article from my friend Lewis about Ben, the real person behind PAC. I was there for a decent amount of this, was at his first matches and was great seeing him, for it turns out, the last time at Les's funeral. Still in shock. cultaholic.com/posts/rememb...

Remembering My Friend Ben, The International Wrestling Superstar
To most of the rest of the world, he was PAC. Or Neville. Or ‘The Man That Gravity Forgot’. But, to me, he was simply Ben, the local lad I spent a great deal of time with during some of my most format...

Lately I've been thinking a lot about Terry Pratchett's "Reaper Man" and AI. He was so ahead of his time in so many ways - or maybe squarely in his time but so many missed the very obvious signposts of where we were heading. Gonna be spoilers in this thread for a 25-year old book.

Saw someone suggest a memorial tournament or something. I know the C2 is right after, but three weeks of brackets, minimal storylines, maybe use it as an opportunity to showcase guys who mostly do ROH shows atm and/or get some overseas talent who have history with Pac. "The Pac Invitational" idk.

Toilet in lovely soft watercolour and pastel with rich green carpet Jude holding a ball in very lively ink , quite gestural An oil pastel stubby tree, observed from the real, blues and yellows and bold marks Front of a house with bay windows and blue skies, near Weymouth harbour , with ape face

Everything he did looked legit. Every movement, every facial expression, every promo, you just felt like he must live the gimmick. But of course he didn't at all. Most good gimmicks are said to be an exaggeration of the performer's real self, but Pac was a true professional. It was all deliberate.

[CN. Food] 602) Spicybot. Checks your meal to ascertain how spicy it is before you dig in and ruin a perfectly good tongue. Its antenna flashes green, amber, or red as appropriate, and is calibrated to your own endurance. #SmallRobotsRemastered
An ovoid robot with banded arms and legs. It stands beside a plate of food, which is drawn in a soft, pastel style (because it's hard to draw realistic-looking food in the standard style). The meal looks like a curry, with rice and a triangular samosa (or possibly a folded chapati) on one side. The robot is putting a fork or spoon into its mouth, its eyes are widened, and its eyebrows are raised very high. A banded antenna on its top is lit up, its cheeks are flushed, and two beads of sweat have formed on its brow.

Just remembered a thing Pac did the other week that I didn't see anyone else mention. In that match with Ace Austin, there was a bit where he'd sent Pac to the outside with some kicks and you could hear Pac on the announcers' mics as he stumbled past going, "Those thighs, man, those thighs..."

There's a map issued to Polish airmen in WW2 that has all the place names spelled phonetically because they were being given directions in English by ground control.
A map of a part of Kent & Sussex with placenames spelled phonetically for Polish speakers. Too many to list, but highlights include Heistynz (Hastings), Istbon (Eastbourne) and the magnificent Tanbrydż-Łelz (Tunbridge Wells)

Just watched Tony Khan introduce the ROH tapings with an announcement about Pac's passing. He was in tears, struggling to hold it together. Dynamite is going to be hard going this week. I've been sort of okay watching older stuff, but clips of his match from Saturday made me feel desperately sad.

Someone was talking about PAC being stoic at meet & greets on Twitter, so it reminded me of this anecdote.
Small child in red flannel and blue jeans standing next to PAC with long hair, wearing black AEW hoodie and shorts. Both are wearing facemasks.Nolie met PAC at a Dynamite, when AEW was still doing preshow meet and greets.

They both looked each other up and down. Then PAC stoically says “How is your day, little child?”.

When it was picture time, he plainly said “Stand with me in battle” to Nolie.

It was perfect.

I always thought that "dogging" in the meaning intimated here, was so uniquely British that Americans would have a much...idk...classier name for it, if they needed one at all. There's something about that term, how it makes it sound sordid and dirty, that is indicative of our national character.
