it's true - when LWB isn't safe for pedestrians and cyclists, not many of them use it. it's almost like this is exactly the point of having it open to those walking and rolling and not driving loud, dangerous, and smelly cars

Unfortunately, after a protracted battle with the Parks Department and the owner of Michael Craft Photography (for privacy reasons, I won't name him specifically but he drives a red SUV and owns Michael Craft Photography), SDOT had to move the bike racks.

Last night we celebrated the opening of our new dedicated bus lane for the 8 bus on Denny by doing the obvious thing: racing it again. Last summer, Seattleites raced the bus on foot and beat it. This time around, with the lane up and running, it wasn’t even close.

50% of salmon in the state are dying because of stormwater runoff from cars but a few fish die because of this sustainable transit mode and we deploy divers and act like it’s an environmental hazard. Oh, cars are also our city and state’s top CO2 emitter

I can't walk 4 blocks without a driver coming within inches of me in the crosswalk and giving no fucks. What the fuck are we supposed to do who this? Why can't we have exclusive pedestrian phases? Drivers are psycho and need to be reigned in. I'm fucking sick of this shit.

These U.S. headlines all occurred within the LAST 24 HOURS. A reminder that these are the types of consequences we choose to accept when we tolerate traffic violence. Crashes ≠ accidents.
Yellow Families for Safe Streets graphic titled “Within the last 24 hours…” Eight news headlines report: a 1-year-old girl killed by a vehicle in Las Vegas; a pedestrian critically wounded and two young boys fighting for their lives in California; a construction worker killed and two others injured in Nesconset; a child killed by a dump truck in Sprague; a woman killed while walking in Stamford; a Dallas pedestrian killed by an SUV and thrown into a Waymo; a missing teen killed in a crash on I-20 in Columbia County; and a man killed by multiple vehicles in Bakersfield.
