If you want 1.5C, 1.8C, 2C, overshoot, no-overshoot, etc, then they all require the same thing: rapid short-term emission reductions reaching net zero CO2 emissions as soon as possible. This has been clear from the IPCC Special Report on 1.5C, which depicts "overshoot" on its cover! 1/

Bikes aren’t the reason why traffic is bad. Cars getting in the way of other cars are. The best way to reduce traffic is to give people other options to get around. That means bikes. And transit. And pedestrian-first streets.

Including operating costs over 40 years without accounting for revenue is just weird. They say in the article they expect revenue to cover expenses. Why not just stick to capital costs, which the story acknowledges are within the stated band (for now).

Globally, governments subsidize fossil fuels to the tune of $1 trillion per year -- and subsidies are sticky: "Of the roughly 130 subsidy reforms attempted in the 21 biggest subsidizers between 2016 and 2023, 70% collapsed within a year. More than 90% were gone within 3 years."
