Me: “You can’t park here.” Driver: “It’s not a big deal.” FYI this is the only Northbound, non-door-zone bike lane in all of Wallingford and Fremont I think.

Weird timing on this traffic light in the Spring District: 1. left+straight for cars 2. pedestrian walk (no bike) 3. cars (no left) 4. bike signal (no peds but NTOR turns on) What purpose does it serve to separate bikes and pedestrians going straight?

We just hit 1 million Fremont Bridge bike trips so far this year
Data through September 29. Sometime Monday evening (September 28), somebody rolled across the Fremont Bridge and registered the one millionth bike or scooter trip so far this year. The old bike counter display had both a daily count and a thermometer-style counter that filled up over the course of the year. That thermometer maxed out at one million. When the city first installed the counter with sponsorship from Cascade Bicycle Club, one million was seen as an aspirational number. Seattle just hit that figure before October. Last year, the bridge didn't reach the 1 million mark until mid-December.

An example of bad design in Bellevue. 👍 Leading pedestrian interval 👎 Without a “no turn on red,” this creates a dangerous conflict.

Friday: Last chance to take SDOT’s bike and scooter share survey
At Lime's Georgetown operations center. Their collection is missing the 8-speed pedal bike. Yes, I pointed this out to them. No, I did not sound cool doing it. SDOT's bike and scooter share survey closes tomorrow (September 25), so if you have ridden Lime then definitely share your thoughts. Take the survey (afterwards you can enter for a chance to win a $100 gift card of some kind). It shouldn't take much longer than 10 minutes and mostly involves checking boxes about how you use bike/scooter share and what you like or dislike about it.

The WAR ON WALKING has taken many forms around the world. It’s often as simple as how we signal who space is and isn’t for. Once our eyes are opened to all the ways we’ve prioritized cars over people, we can’t unsee it. Frustrating photo contributed by @stadsplanering.bsky.social. #WarOnWalking
Background photo from North Macedonia, where “sidewalks are mostly used to park cars” as explained by photo contributor Carl-Henrik Barnekow. Text says “Don’t buy the lie that there’s a war on cars. Probably controversial as I regularly see drivers not slowing down: for me, a stop sign positioned at a trail-crosswalk connection regulates entry onto the sidewalk, but it does not revoke cyclist/pedestrian's right-of-way when crossing the street. WDYT?

Another day on NE 65th “protected bike lane”. I tried to talk to the van driver, and he refused to move because there is no other place to park for a carpet cleaning… his customer, UPS (who is blocking the lane on the other side), defended him and didn’t care that I was calling parking enforcement…

This is a pet peeve of mine: when a train arrives, the pedestrian path is quite busy. The shuttle should drive through the parking lot, on the other side of the fence.
