The violent threats sent to Islamic schools across the country—including right here in Ottawa West-Nepean—are utterly horrific and completely unacceptable. No one should ever be the target of hate. I stand with our Muslim community against Islamophobia. Hate has no place here or anywhere in Canada.

Today on World Suicide Prevention Day, we are reminded that no one has to carry their heaviest burdens alone. Mental healthcare is healthcare. Creating a safer, more caring community means ensuring everyone can access support when they need it most, without long wait times or financial barriers.

I wrote to the CEO of the HCRA demanding hybrid access for their annual public meetings. Their response? A flat-out refusal. How can a regulator currently being raked over the coals by the Auditor General claim to value transparency by holding a virtual-only meeting in the middle of a weekday? (1/2)

Wonderful to celebrate the great work being done at Algonquin College alongside faculty, staff, student association executives, and the board of governors. Hearing stories of lives changed and community partnerships is a good reminder of why we need to properly fund and support our public colleges.

Instead of getting mad at Staples for price gouging, Paul Calandra got mad at teachers for their advocacy. Let’s be honest, Paul. You’re the one who needs to start working with teachers to fix what’s wrong in education.
