Just witnessed a guy trying to drive up the cycle lane on Pilgrim St. i stood in front of him and told him this was not his space to drive on. It was a cycle path. Not a road. So after getting an earful of abuse from him, he gave up and drove off. Hacks me off no end.

Shocker! a half sensible cycling article from the BBC. The biggest put off for people thinking of cycling is road danger. Hiviz means bugger all when the drivers aren't looking. The obvious routes are not always the best or safest. planners like @cycle.travel help. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Luton Airport Parkway train station is barely 0.8 miles from the airport itself - it's obscene the car-centric design of that area means there's physically no way to just walk that distance and you have to faff around with a shuttle bus.

George is quite right on this. I discovered via FOI requests that just 5% of all woodland creation grants go to support natural regeneration of trees, and 95% to tree planting. I’ll continue to push DEFRA to fix this. www.theguardian.com/environment/... bsky.app/profile/geor...

It's been difficult to keep this properly under wraps but I can now finally talk about this! Today Dott bikes have launched a new cycle hire scheme in Newcastle - providing residents a proper alternative to car use within the City. We have taken learnings from previous schemes (eNeuron and Mobike)

Paris has been praised in recent years for their visionary, progressive city-building, but they don’t get enough credit for just being really pragmatic! Everything they’ve been doing is common sense. They’re moving a lot more people with less space while cleaning the air and cooling the city.

Interesting insights here from @cyclinguk.bsky.social. Good to see that one of their YouGov polls this year revealed that 70% of people support #SchoolStreets - but think that only 49% of others do.
