Lots of people out apparently commuting on bikes (some of which look like they’ve been in the shed for a while) this evening #Bury #Rochdale At a time when #PetrolPrices are climbing, switching short car journeys to walking or cycling can help with the #CostOfLiving

#PetrolPrices are climbing ever higher, but many car journeys are under a mile and many under three miles, distances that can easily be walked or cycled. Save money. Reduce demand on fuel, to help those who really need it. Be healthy. Walk and cycle more. #ActiveTravel

Fuel prices are having a serious impact on the #CostOfLiving We should all try to reduce fuel demand by switching some journeys for walking and cycling and turning off engines when stopped. Not all journeys can be walked or cycled but most car journeys are <3 miles and many potentially can.

We also have to deal with the non-financial externalities: it increases distances between homes & essential goods & services; we're told it's why we can't have bike & bus lanes & clear suitably wide pavements; it restricts our view putting us at risk & driver views which is used to excuse hitting us
