I’ve never once taken for granted how lucky I actually am. People put newborn babies on the waitlist so they can eventually get season tickets when they’re adults (yes that’s how long it takes). But I have been able to go my whole life because of my family.

This is the first home game since both of my grandparents passed in April and I know it’s going to be emotional and I will probably cry but they’re not all sad tears. I’m crying because I miss them, but also because being at Lambeau feels like home and I’m so lucky that I get to be here.

Other regulars around us even remember my grandpa and ask about him when we go. My heart swells when I think of these people who are technically strangers but have known my family for years. It’s going to be hard to tell them he’s no longer with us.

The pair of tickets that went to my mom are the seats that my grandpa and dad sat in for all those years so that’s where I get to sit now. They are great seats but what I love is the pride I feel when I’m there, knowing these seats have been in my family so long.

They eventually transferred the tickets when my grandpa became too old to go to the games; one pair to my mom and one pair to my uncle. I started going to more games because before, my dad and grandpa went to every single game so we just had the other pair to split between the rest of us.

They would come on Saturday, take us out to dinner and then we’d walk around the mall. Then on Sunday, my aunts and uncles would come over too and whoever was going to the game would go, and the rest of us would watch at home.

My grandparents lived in Wis. Rapids and my parents moved to GB after they got married so every home game, my grandparents would stay at my parents’ house. As a kid, getting to see my grandparents almost every weekend was the best.

My family has had 2 pairs of season tickets since Lambeau opened in 1957. One pair belonged to my great grandparents. The other pair were bought by my grandpa. My grandpa went to almost every single game (and had been since they played at City Stadium before Lambeau was built).
