Whenever Texas threatens to pull funding from Dallas because Dallas did something progressive, the city cowers and tells residents, "we have to comply or the state will pull funding!" But when Texas pulls funding for Flock cameras, the city can amazingly find a way to keep them running.

You've seen this framing a lot lately. I know what they're doing, but it's for a short-term gain at long-term expense. If we start normalizing this and similar phrasing to blend church and state, it's not going to end well for anyone these politicians say they're trying to protect.
