Mink farming is a massive pandemic risk. It's insane that they are allowed to exist. Now we have an active H5N1 outbreak on a mink farm, & "state officials have no clear plan to rein it in." Imagine if uncontrolled H5N1 transmission in mink were allowed in a research lab...

The older bearded iris cultivars are so beautiful. Most of the modern ones have so much ruffle you can't even see it's a flower, and the colours are usually awful. The early ones are so much more elegant, & work in almost every planting scheme

What on earth is happening?
  This had become the new normal. RNLI crew members had been forced to take their permits off their cars after their tyres have been repeatedly slashed. Most of them have been pilloried at the school gates or turned away from local pubs. One man who worked in search and rescue had been beaten unconscious and hospitalised, recognised for TV interviews he had done.

4 months ago, I was as healthy as I knew how to be. I ran marathons & after 15 years of struggling with anorexia had essentially healed my relationship with food. Then I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, and later with an autoimmune condition that may affect me for the rest of my life.
