Again, <only Republicans> ever get to talk like this. If a single municipal level Democrat ever did, it would be a national outrage &spark a wave of “civility” discourse, & op-eds about how Dems must Respect Real Folkz & talk across difference. Democracy is incompatible with this double standard.

Most people aren't talking about the kind of transformations we really need, because I think a lot of folks have surrendered to the idea of living in a "rape-prone" society. The satisfaction of occasionally punishing some of the most egregious actors is all many are allowing themselves to hope for.

Something I learned just this week: "only 4% of the world’s women and girls live in the U.S., but the U.S. confines ONE-QUARTER of the world’s incarcerated women and girls." www.prisonpolicy.org/global/women...
a chart from Prison Policy comparing states' incarceration rates of women to the other countries' rates.
it shows about 20 states who incarcerate women at a higher rate than even the most incarceration-friendly countries (el salvador, dem. rep. of congo, thailand). three states - south dakota, montana and idaho - incarcerate women at a higher rate than the country of El Salvador.

"Umberto Eco, who owned 50,000 strategy games had this to say about Steam libraries:

It is foolish to think that you have to play all the strategy games you buy, as it is foolish to criticize those who buy more strategy games than they will ever be able to play. It would be like saying that you should use all the cutlery or glasses or screwdrivers or drill bits you bought before buying new ones. There are things in life that we need to always have plenty of supplies, even if we will only use a small portion. If, for example, we consider strategy games as medicine, we understand that it is good to have many at home rather than a few; when you want to feel better, then you go to the 'medicine closet' and choose a strategy game. Not a random one, but the right strategy game for that moment. THat's why you should always have a nutrition choice! Those who buy only one strategy game, read only that one and then get rid of it. They simply apply the consumer mentality to strategy games, that is, they consider them a consumer product, a good. Those who love strategy games know that a strategy game is anything but a commodity."

The term “remigration” is associated with the extreme right and only came into widespread usage in 2023-4. Even Germany’s AfD avoided using the term in 2024 for fear of scaring away voters. Today the US government is celebrating the “victories” it’s racked up in the “ethnic cleansing” column.

It started as and still is a side hustle. I work in the defense industry and supply armored ballistic glass to the military. Three years ago, I was in

rugs and would scour the flea markets and eBay for them. But ultimately, the rugs transitioned into vintage and antique home goods and that is where I remain today.
