The thing that’s always annoying about these stories is Trump said, on the record, that he was going to deport 20 million people. The highest estimate of “unauthorized” immigrants is 14 million, the vast majority of whom are visa overstays, have TPS, or DACA…

You don’t start an attack with small arms. In woke 1, we were sending in infantry to do artillery’s job. The Cornell Daily Sun has spotted the target and called in the fire mission. The mayor of Ithaca has zeroed the enemy’s position. Fire for effect.

Where to attack? Where are the hostiles more concentrated, more identified, more in open ground than in fraternities? It doesn’t mean they’re all equally bad or that all men in them are rapists, but they very clearly serve as recruitment centers and defensive positions for the enemy.

In our own networks, we should think of this in terms of potential infiltration. Deny the hostiles space to maneuver. Don’t wait for the enemy to secure a beachhead. Calling out rape culture isn’t for an abstract national conversation, it’s defensive fire.

I don’t think we should take the woke 1 tack of decoding it to decry it. I think woke 2 should decode it to destroy it. This is intelligence about the dispositions of the enemy. When a man says rapey things or defends accused frat boys, we should be flagging him as a potential hostile.

I was never satisfied by the idea that rape is attributable to an ambient thing called rape culture. Certainly there are things in culture that normalize rape, but to the extent “rape culture causes rape” is a true statement, the term means more like: “the culture of men who bond over raping women.”

One of the many lessons of the Trump era is that rapists are very well-organized and actively work to protect each other. Fraternities serve that function in the open, and so they must be destroyed if we are serious about accountability for rapists.

This is a country where young women have fewer legal rights than their mothers did, and where MeToo was opposed by male backlash from the highest levels of power and influence. And still some wonder why the young women of America feel disillusioned. This is a moment crying out for woke revanchism.

Every word of this is spot on, and I'm so glad someone's saying it, because my eyes will roll out of my head if I read about "atomization" one more time. You will pry my gesellschaft from my cold dead hands.
It's normal at this point to get a little weepy and depressive about the loss of such conditions and organizations. We're all bowling alone, we're atomized and isolated and depressed, we've lost our gemeinschaft and are trapped in the prison of gesellschaft, blah blah blah.

Personally I kind of like it. It's nice actually that my employment doesn't depend on what gossip is going around the Irish Club this weekend. It's nice that I can look up how to deal with scale insects in five minutes on YouTube rather than having to join the local Garden Society. It's good that I can settle rent disputes with my landlord without calling a couple thugs from my local party. This very publication you are now reading, *Liberal Currents*, could only exist in a world of easy and cheap and *impersonal* access to the means of communication and publication.
