I'll belive the guys who insist that AI music is going to replace real music as soon as they're prepared to, in person, go up to a group of Swifties and firmly tell them that their mother goddess is obsolete I'll be generous and give them time to update their dental records beforehand

I think this a perfectly reasonable prediction in terms of AI Doom, but its going to be trillions of dollars that weren't allocated elsewhere, serious labor market disruption even if companies say oops and start rehiring, and the future of electricity demand will look different forever.

A curious thing about the Defenestrations of Prague (besides the "kicking off the Thirty Years War that killed millions and devastated Germany" part) is that nobody got killed. 3 dudes got chucked out of a 20-meter high window but they all survived.

one sign that everybody worried about climate change is rabidly meme-ridden and beyond reason is that NO-ONE I speak to will concede that there might be *positive consequences* if the planet gets hotter. why it all gotta be bad? unlivable areas -> habitable? massive insects? idk
