One scholar recalled, "We had this norm that you need a White control condition like you need to compare… That is the norm. And it was frustrating because it’s like, ‘Do we need that to just talk about minority experiences?’” (RM_16). Scholars were asked by reviewers to explain how they can “generalize”, even though “When we have majority White samples, no one asks that question, it is just seen as a standard.” (RM_19).

I still can't get over the fact that SCOTUS (minus Sotomayor, Kagan & Jackson) did this yesterday *on the shadow docket.* Nary a word of justification. Not even a nod to the lower court opinions finding it unlawful to deport to 3rd countries w/o due process to flag torture & persecution risks.

8/ Drawing on testimony by @genevievelakier.bsky.social & @dorfonlaw.bsky.social, the report distinguishes targeted abuse from chants, signs, & other speech addressed to the campus at large. In a university setting, the latter receives much greater 1st Amendment protection, even when very offensive.

In my research on the antisemitic white nationalist who became chair of the OR GOP in 1978, I’ve run across innumerable references to “the Jewish Question,” and it’s always been in the context of neo-Nazi shit. This is from a 1970s newsletter he received from James K Warner, a pal of David Duke’s.
