the Harry Potter stuff is a clear line in the sand where like, divorcing yourself from the fandom is very easy and there's a ton of moral reason to. and people can't even manage that. let alone the idea of culture being remotely challenging, or carrying forth some sense of ethics or values

Super Mario Sunshine is surprisingly more realistic than later Mario games in one specific aspect: here, Mario will start drowning if he hangs on to a ledge in such a way that water is flowing into his nose and mouth, as one would in real life.
Observe Mario holding on to a ledge that water is flowing over in Super Mario Galaxy (left) and Super Mario Odyssey (right). If realistic physics applied, he should start drowning since his nostrils and mouth are covered by water flowing into them.
However, in these games the air depletion/drowning state is tied to the swimming animation. As long as Mario is not visibly swimming, he cannot be drowning even if he is covered by water.
In Super Mario Sunshine, however, air depletion is decoupled from swimming as an action, allowing Mario to realistically start drowning in this situation (note him flashing red and his air meter depleting).
However, he is saved by Sunshine's (also unique among 3D Mario platformers) ledge tiredness mechanic. After hanging on for 20 seconds, Mario will let go. This is also realistic, since why would he let himself drown?

In ancient Chinese mythology, the Fusang Tree rivals the Norse World Tree, yet grows from a very different vision of the cosmos. Described as two colossal mulberries entwined, Fusang cradles the Golden Crow, the sun itself, as it rises each dawn. It is not a lonely pillar 1/2

The thundering lack of awareness. My gob, it is smacked.
Engaged in a flirtatious conversation at a bar in Manhattan, 23-year-old Gary stood with a Guinness in hand as he explained to a woman why he took an engineering job at Palantir, the data analytics company cofounded by Alex Karp and Peter Thiel. Raking in a $250,000 salary would allow him to help pay off his parents’ mounting medical bills, he explained.
Gary wasn’t met with sympathy. Medical debt, the woman told him, was “not an excuse to work somewhere like that.” She was referring, of course, to Palantir’s controversial work with governments, including the US and Israel, which use the company’s surveillance tools for law enforcement and military operations.Gary has resorted to saying he works in AI. “Even that gets some pretty bad responses sometimes,” he says. His Hinge profile doesn’t mention his employer. And sometimes he makes up stories out of thin air to justify working for Palantir—like that line about the medical debt. His parents don’t have any, nor are they ill.

You would think a company like Nvidia which is depending on the public embrace of "AI" would take the hit and sell things at a lower cost to keep resentment at bay. It's almost like they're trying to grab all the money they can right now, and have no faith in their long-term prospects ...
