Nonzero possibility that on top of everything else going wrong with the war with Iran, high ranking people at CENTCOM could end up in the hospital with dengue 🙃 www.facebook.com/share/19RAPZ...
Keep the bugs out and the mission moving.

In response to recent dengue fever advisories in Hillsborough County, MacDill’s 6th Operational Medical Readiness Squadron Public Health flight is stepping up mosquito surveillance across the installation to safeguard the health of our Tampa Bay communities.

Through specialized traps, species monitoring and medical entomology, the team helps proactively identify potential threats, such as Aedes aegypti, and guide targeted mosquito control efforts.

You can help, too!
 💧Dump standing water
🦟Use EPA-registered repellent with DEET or Picardin
👕Wear loose-fitting long sleeves and pants outdoors
 🪟Keep screens secure

Small steps keep Team MacDill and our Tampa Bay community protected.

To learn more about local treatment zones visit the Hillsborough County Mosquito Management Services Portal at https://hcfl.gov/.../mosquito.../mosquito-management-program

As an update for anyone who isn’t digging through the comments: I found more articles by USA Today journalists I’ve never met. There are THREE that used quotes from my interview recording—including many quotes that were never publicly published anywhere else.

The primary objective of journalism is supposed to be telling the truth. It is a DECISION on the part of USA Today to know that new details have emerged about this case and to refuse to update an old story that is still circulating and still shaming Jane Doe.

I'm not linking the piece because I'd like for as few people to read it as possible. I'm writing about it here because: - I want to be clear about what happened to anyone who saw that article and felt betrayed to see me associated with it. - These are bad decisions that deserve public shame.

Once I found out about it, I contacted the reporter and asked him to retract the piece--or at minimum add an editor's note acknowledging the NYT reporting about how Jane Doe did NOT tell police that she consented to her rape. Thus far, the publication has refused to do so.

Ironically, my original interview with the journalist I spoke with was primarily about how "inconsistencies" can come from gender bias in investigatory processes and then be blamed on survivors. It was the inspiration for this thread--but none of these points made it into any USA Today article:

I'm the token expert voice saying that inconsistencies in victim's narratives are common in an otherwise brutally bad piece of journalism full of tropes about how not to report on sexual assault.

Earlier this week, I agreed to interviews with two USA Today journalists. They wrote fantastic articles about the Cornell case that I'm proud to have been a part of. What I did not know is that their employer considers interviews to proprietary and opens up recordings to be used by any journalist.

The not-so-secret Jewish history of Neiman Marcus

These victories were achieved through the efforts of Civil Rights activists, along with support from Neiman Marcus president Stanley Marcus, who was an early advocate for desegregation. The Neiman Marcus Dallas store manager purportedly warned Marcus that he would destroy his business this way.

The downtown Neiman Marcus flagship was one of the first major Dallas businesses that broke with these practices. In 1961, the company desegregated its Zodiac Room, a swanky lunch spot frequented by Dallas elites. Later, they welcomed Black shoppers to come and buy clothes without restrictions.

For instance, they had to try on clothes over their clothes, put on protective covers when trying on hats, or weren't allowed to make returns once they brought the clothes home. These policies stemmed from racist fears that white customers would refuse merchandise previously worn by Black shoppers.

By Gordon Parks

Promised gift of The Gordon Parks FoundationJoanne Wilson, one of the Thorntons’ daughters, is shown standing with her niece in front of a department store in downtown Mobile. The pair is impeccably dressed in light, summery frocks. The jarring neon of the “Colored Entrance” sign looming above them clashes with the two young women’s elegant appearance, transforming a casual afternoon outing into an example of overt discrimination. Notice the fallen strap of Wilson’s slip. Though this detail might appear discordant with the rest of the picture, its inclusion may have been strategic: it allowed Parks to emphasize the humanity of his subjects.

Neiman Marcus closed its downtown Dallas flagship on Wednesday. The store played a notable role in the history of desegregation in Dallas. Previously, Black shoppers across the US could enter department stores, but they weren't allowed to try on clothes without adhering to certain conditions. 🧵

What Tracey found was on a sketchy site called "ecourtrecords.org" -- not NY's court system, as he claimed. A disclaimer on the site reads: "Not a court, law firm, or certified record service." Its domain was registered just a few weeks ago. And as of this post, the site he cited is offline.
Domain registration info for "ecourtrecords.org" shows the domain was created on Sept. 17, 2026.

Michael Tracey published what he said was the ID of the "Jane Doe" in the Cornell case. Then he took it down, claiming he just wanted to make a point and didn't want to see harm to the person he named. What he hasn't admitted is that he mistook info on a sketchy site for official NY court records.
An archived copy of Michael Tracey's original Substack post includes a screenshot from "eCourt Records" and the commentary: "It's [name redacted]. Don't blame me -- the New York Court System just posted it. Seemingly inadvertently. Oh well."Screenshot of Michael Tracey's post on Substack titled "Note on Jane Doe." It reads: "After identifying Jane Doe earlier tonight, I have now removed the information I published. Why? Because the principle has been served: to underscore that permanently anonymizing litigants who make sensational, spectacular, reputation-destroying claims about others — so long as they can self-declare some form of victimization — cannot be countenanced.

It’s destructive, and an egregious abuse of the legal system by huckster plaintiff’s lawyers. This practice has to end. Lawyers who seek to monetize this sleazy tactic should have to think A LOT HARDER about the claims they’re willing to throw out into the public domain, using impressionable clients who may not even know what they’re getting themselves into.

So why have I now removed her information?

Because I don’t believe she’s the main “villain” here. I primarily blame the bottom-feeding, media-manipulating, sleazebag lawyers who’ve made a whole cash-grab industry out of this racket.

Thomas Giuffra in particular has a lot to answer for. He’s the central reason for the current debacle.

Given the intense nationwide and global interest in this case, I don’t want to bring any further negative attention to this woman. I don’t believe she ought to be punished or subjected to any retribution or humiliation. I believe a RATIONAL solution is necessary here. Not more character assassination — of her, the seven young men, or anyone else. Truly, that is my genuine view."
