I kind of love how firefox has decided that anytime I start to type "orders" into the search bar (so it will show various "your orders" pages from my browsing history), it should autocomplete with "Take Holy Orders".

Nobody ever asks me, but my advice -- pragmatic, not ideological -- is that Democrats should NEVER EVER EVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES cede ground to Republicans on anything.

it’s wild that the heritage foundation wrote in text that the assault on trans woman particularly in sports is their first step in their efforts to completely abolish all Title IX protections and liberals still don’t believe it’s about more than trans women in sports

So sure, USAID was a tool of US soft power and political influence, and also, I sometimes get the sense that people saying this don’t quite comprehend the torrent of death, horror, and pain that is currently unfolding from the genuinely evil decision to suddenly destroy it.

"Yoink!" the dragon said. "That's mine now." I took a breath to protest but was distracted by being able to take a breath. I took a few more, without a coughing fit. "You healed me?" "Pff. Why would I do that? I stole your cough for my hoard." "You hoard illnesses? I can help you find more!"

The utility of racial supremacism lies in the belief that there is some innate quality to one race that elevates it above all others, regardless of any lack of achievement, merit or aesthetic appeal. Supremacism is literally and specifically an ideology for losers

I loved this take from Texts From Superheroes
Image: a purported text conversation between Batman and Commissioner Gordon

Gordon: We need you upstate Batman. Poison Ivy is destroying a fracking site.
Batman: Yeah I know, she already ran it past me. I've kinda loosened the reins on her lately. I think she might be the hero in all this.
Gordon: But what she's doing is illegal.
Batman: So is what I do.
Gordon: What you do is different.
Batman: I physically beat the poor and mentally deranged.
Gordon: But she's growing plants all over an innocent oil and gas platform.
Batman: Think about that for a second.
Gordon: Oh no ... are we the baddies???

The Democratic presidential debates need to have spring loaded traps underneath each candidate and any time one of them says "we need to move on" or "I'm focused on the future, not the past" they should be immediately launched through the roof of the auditorium.

Alfred Nobel established the Nobel Prize after wake up call: newspapers mistakenly published his obituary when his brother died & what he read as his legacy horrified him speaking ill (factually) of the dead is literally the most effective way to curb living racist & Nazi public figures/politicians
There is a well-known story about the origin of the Nobel Prize, although historians have been unable to verify it, and some dismiss the story as a myth.[26] In 1888, the death of his brother Ludvig supposedly caused several newspapers to publish obituaries of Alfred in error. One French newspaper[which?] condemned him for his invention of military explosives—in many versions of the story, dynamite is quoted, although this was mainly used for civilian applications—and this is said to have brought about his decision to leave a better legacy after his death.[6] The obituary supposedly stated, Le marchand de la mort est mort ("The merchant of death is dead"),[6] and according to the myth went on to say, "Dr. Alfred Nobel, who became rich by finding ways to kill more people faster than ever before, died yesterday."[27] Nobel read the obituary and was appalled at the idea that he would be remembered in this way. His decision to posthumously donate the majority of his wealth to found the Nobel Prize has been credited to him wanting to leave behind a better legacy.[28][6] However, it has been questioned whether or not the obituary in question actually existed.[28] An actual obituary (pictured) stated "A man who can only with the utmost difficulty be considered a benefactor of mankind has died yesterday at Cannes. It is Mr. Nobel, inventor of dynamite. Mr. Nobel was Swedish." It was published on the first page of the Figaro on the 15th of April 1888 and retracted the next day.

I feel that people arguing about the placement of Kissinger & Cheney vs. Scalia are not reading the (persuasive imo) descriptions of each category, so here's the graphic with full alt text
table: RIP BOZO Readiness Condition (RIPCON)

RIPCON 1 (white)
Description: It Happened
Examples: n/a
Actions: [champagne emoji]

RIPCON 2 (red)
Description: Devils, without whom the world would be an instantly, measurably better place.
Examples: Antonin Scalia
Actions: Run, don't walk, to your closest loved one and embrace them

RIPCON 3 (yellow)
Description: Major demons who substantially harmed humanity in significant, high-profile ways but who are past their peak in evildoing.
Examples: Henry Kissinger, Dick Cheney
Actions: Specifically coordinate a celebratory gathering with friends at soonest convenience

RIPCON 4 (green)
Description: Minor demons who had a reduced impact on humanity as a whole but nevertheless made some corner of the world a notably worse place.
Examples: Hulk Hogan, Toby Keith
Actions: Celebratory shots next time you happen to be out with friends

RIPCON 5 (blue)
Description: Inconsequential or washed up ghouls who had little to no impact on humanity beyond being annoying or historically evil.
Examples: Scott Adams, Pete Rose
Actions: Post packwatch.gif on social media and in your group chats

A comic of several foxes, one of whom is blue, the other is green. In this one, we see a grey fox, by themselves, studying a "no smoking" sign, with a smaller sign added at the bottom.
Grey fox, in thought: Non-smoking area, enforced by... Sniper?

Frowning disapprovingly, the grey fox immediately pulls out a cigarette and lights it.
Grey fox, still thinking: What kind of a sick joke is that? How would th-

Grey fox's thought process is startled as a thin, sharp burst of water shoots the cigarette out of their mouth.

Nearby, Blue and Green are hanging out on their balcony. Blue is wearing an olive green fishing hat, taking cover behind the balcony wall, aiming a brightly coloured plastic water gun down to the street.
Green: Enjoying your new watergun?
Blue: Immensely.

The thing is, efficient forms of transport often look empty because they're efficient. A road packed with cars is not an efficient used of space when 20 cars' worth of people can sit on a single bus, or, more or less, 20 bikes. Yet they take up 10 times the space of either. Cars ruin cities.

I'd go further. This SCOTUS isn't democratically legitimate, but there are other sources of legitimacy: legal/rational legitimacy is also available to courts that abide by the rule of law. But the Roberts Court doesn't even have that. It is *categorically illegitimate.*
