I've had a quick skim through this and there is a huge number of things to think about. 1. Relationships are critical. Still way too much helicopter decision making. 2. Peers are trusted. Which goes to Point 1. re relationships. 3. Much of the distrust can be traced back to economic incentives.

Quality local representatives in Ngā Motu New Plymouth.
A New Plymouth councillor says that council staff are lying, obfuscating and politically motivated, while the council denies the allegations.

Hard-right councillor Kerry Vosseler said during a Zoom meeting hosted by lobby group Challenging Councils NZ last week that “left-leaning” officers employed “delaying tactics”, obfuscated information and, on at least one occasion, lied to her.

Vosseler, in her first term as councillor, had previously expressed scepticism about cellphone towers and “climate hysteria”, and said she believed aeroplane condensation trails affected the weather and that Bill Gates had launched a “maggot milk” company that would provide alternatives to dairy products.

Unfortunately for Opportunity their fisheries bottom line is factually incorrect. Australia, Peru, Chile and New Zealand all bottom trawl the South Pacific. We are the only country that bottom trawls the South Pacific High Seas which is a very different proposition. Kayla Kingdon-Bebb knows this.
4. Revive ocean health
New Zealand is the only country that still bottom trawls in the South Pacific. Enough. We will demand an overhaul of the Fisheries Amendment Bill that phases-out bottom trawling to restore fish stocks and build a sustainable blue economy for the next generation.
