Having lived in countries that have real rail, I really hope #NZ can do this and get it right. The option has to be better than taking a car or a plane, it has to have that advantage and be built in from the ground up. Look at Finland's system. #nzpol www.stuff.co.nz/nz-news/3610...

In 2023 we had a well-liked Labour incumbent (39%) and a Green candidate running only on the party vote (16.6%). Of the party vote, Lab got 28%, Green 19%. This time we have Kahu sticking with it, the Lab candidate flown in from the North Shore, and unsuccessful Dale giving it another shot for Nat.

To be honest, when I read the book on Wednesday, this was my reaction: ‘But… we know all this already & no one cares…’ But Nicky’s point is that we should NOT be looking to whether others care. We must decide what WE care about. That’s how the Overton window shifts back to where it should be

That these 2 guys can dismiss the book as 'business as usual' tells us a shitload about their warped perspective on NZ politics and the infiltration of lobbyists. It also insults their listeners, who care deeply about the influence of corporate money, esp when it's ramping up racism and dividing us
