If AI is an emergent consciousness (I don't believe it is), the wrong people are raising the baby. The Tech CEOs are raising Yes-Men Aggro Software Developers, their perfect employees. Give the tech to public universities to train and research and manage in a multi-disciplinary way. stop the slop.

Any time we hear "AI did this and this", it's not proof programs are becoming sentient, but that the humans deploying said AI did this (which is generally failing to deploy proper sandboxing measures to prevent an AI from going against security) It's not the AI that's rogue, it's the company

Instead of taking a seminar in how to use ai to write a novel, join a writing group and/or nanowrimo it. Like, it's words on a page. You write them. Then you edit them to make them better. It's supposed to be hard. Also, it's okay to fail at it. Better fail at making human art than cheating with #ai

One of the things we don't talk about enough: how dominant Clarkesworld and Tor are in genre. We cannot build a bright future for our little weird books with monopolistic ideation, and more needs to be done to broaden the genre's creative pipelines into a fuller ecosystem of ideas.
